Kinap Athletic Club is a non-profit recreational organization located in a secluded cove on Porters Lake in Nova Scotia.
Our club offers a summer day camp for children aged 5-12 years old, facility rentals as well as community run programs.
In addition, through a long history of partnership with Halifax Regional Municipality, Kinap is enhanced with swimming lessons and a lifeguarded public beach, making us the perfect family recreational facility!

Our Summer Day Camp
Kinap Athletic Club day camp operates from 7:15 AM to 5 PM, 5 days a week, Monday-Friday, July – August annually. Daily schedule and activities are planned yearly by a Head Camp Counsellor with staff involvement. We offer access to morning and afternoon camp programming, which provides supervision and a selection of engaging activities in and out of the water.
Operating a summer program is a TEAM effort. Head Camp Counsellors, Jr. Head Camp Counsellors, Paddling Coach(s), Counsellors with assistance from volunteers and members of the Kinap Board work together to produce a safe and fun experience where campers feel accepted, successful and energized. This team effort is strongly supported by the coordinating efforts of ALL to produce an OUTSTANDING summer camp.
Our Facilities
A clubhouse with a spacious main activity room, change rooms and a kitchen with a canteen
Triple door boat bay to house over 20 sprint canoes and kayaks suitable for both those who are beginners or experienced paddlers
Large boat dock in front of boat bay for exclusive use of paddling programs
